2020 Class: Recruiting News/Updates, August 2019

Belle Kranbuhl, 6-3 F, Adirondack HS (Boonville, NY): The Utica Observer-Dispatch has an article out on Kranbuhl’s commitment to Monmouth (MAAC) back in June.

Monmouth showed interest in Kranbuhl last summer. She spoke to Monmouth’s assistant head coach James Young and other college coaches after a showcase in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Offers piled up from the University of Albany, Niagara University, Hofstra University and others. The University of Louisville was “on my radar,” she said, but Monmouth checked all of her boxes.

“There wasn’t one thing I didn’t like about the school,” Kranbuhl said.

Loyal McQueen, 5-7 PG, Wilson HS (Florence, SC): committed to Georgia Tech, over Mississippi State, Kentucky, and North Carolina (the school she was once committed to).

“It was a tough process,” McQeen said. “I went on three official visits and I just narrowed it down and made the best decision for me.”

It was still one that she went back and forth on for a while, she said. McQueen was also considering Mississippi State and Kentucky and still had UNC in the mix as well, she added.

McQueen made visits to the two Southeastern Conference schools, but in the end, the coaching staff at GT and the Yellow Jacket’s system won her over, she said.

Allie Kubek, 6-0 F, Sanford HS (Hockessin, DE): announced her commitment to Towson (CAA). Her hometown is Elkton, Maryland.

UPDATE: WDEL has more on Kubek’s commitment.

Her height and skill attracted the attention of many Division I programs, including Saint Bonatventue, Saint Joe’s, and Wagner, but Kubek said Towson earned the edge by not cooling on her, even with the unknown of her injury rehab.

“They’re like a family to me. I’ve known them for over two years, pretty much. I love the campus, and they have a hospital on the campus, which is what I’m leaning towards to major in. It’s close to home, and that’s why it worked for me and my family.”
