Halle Douglass, 6-1 G, Lake Forest HS (IL): Interviewed for a Chicago Tribune article, Douglass says she’s taking her time in making her college choice:

“I’m trying to find the best fit, however long that takes,” Douglass said. “I have a great relationship with a bunch of (college) coaches, so it’s not easy. I have to find the right fit, once I find right fit, I will make a decision.”

One factor is that she wants to play point guard in college:

“There were some schools that didn’t see me as playing point guard,” Douglass said. “I’ve played point guard my whole life. I want to play point in college.”

Her high school coach indicates she’ll be narrowing down her choices soon and possibly setting up some visits.

  • Ta’Ziah Jenks (KY)

Also, Faith Alston (VA) committed to Appalachian State.

Maya Chandler, 5-8 PG, Triton Central HS (Fairland, IN): The Shelbyville News has posted a Q&A with Chandler following her commitment to Loyola Chicago (MVC) in late July.

TSN: What made Loyola the right fit for you?

MC: I really like their coach and it had the nicest campus of all the schools that offered me. It is in Chicago and it is on the water. Getting a degree from that school, it will be a really good degree. But I really liked the coaches and the girls there. I personally strive in programs where I have a good relationship with my coach. I play more confident. Finding a coach I am proud to talk about and can have fun around, that was a big part of the recruiting for me. Kate Achter is the head coach. I have never had a girl (head) coach. I haven’t really had her yell in my face yet, though, so I don’t know her that well yet.

Ra’shamani Webb, 5-8 G, Normal West HS (IL): picked up her first offer, from Chicago State.

UPDATE (8/7): and she announced her commitment to Chicago State (WAC) today.
