Hard work paying off in a big way for Central hoops star Costner (South Bend Tribune, 6/19/2019)

“My game has increased a crazy amount in the last year,” said Costner. “I changed my mentality. It comes down to my work ethic and my confidence. How I approach basketball now is to be a leader out there on the floor.”

Costner has a driving force in her mind and heart every time she steps on the hardwood in the memory of her grandfather Timothy, who passed away a few years ago.

“My grandparents raised me and he (my grandfather) always wanted me to go to college,” explained Costner. “We used to talk all the time, including about basketball. I know that he is still watching me. I think about him all the time and want to make him proud.”
