If you had a piece of advice for other local athletes, what would you tell them?
Peterson: “Some advice I would give to other local athletes is to stay the course. It’s not always going to be easy trying to achieve your dreams and goals but if you don’t struggle, it’s not going to help you grow as a person or an athlete. Also, another thing I would say is it’s just as important to take care of your work in the classroom as it is on the field or court. Another big piece of advice someone told me when I was younger and I feel like it’s good to share is ‘show me your friends and the people you surround yourself with and it will show me your future.’ It’s really important to surround yourself with people who are always going to be along your side helping you get through everything. It truly takes a village!”
