Arbor Prep coach Scott Stine said Petticord has also made strides as a leader more so with her actions and mentality as an upperclassman.
“She’s not a big talker, she’s a little more introverted, but I would say where she’s grown in her leadership is leading by example,” Stine said. “Understanding that as a captain, whether things are going good for your personally or not, you have an obligation to your team to remain positive, remain upbeat and keep showing leadership.
“Mentally, she’s really grown in that regard and making sure she’s always engaged in the game, talking more with her teammates and making sure everybody’s in the right spot and just leading by example.”
Despite basketball stardom, Arbor Prep’s Mya Petticord is far from satisfied (MLive, 8/21/2020)
Petticord said there isn’t a specific school that she’s waiting to hear from, and she hasn’t made any decisions on what will come next for her. For now, she’s just thankful for the opportunities at the moment.
“I really don’t have any dream school,” she said. “Whatever (offers) I get, I’m grateful for. If a coach doesn’t come to me, it’s whatever. I have other options. But if they do, I’m grateful, but there aren’t any specific schools I want to have interest in me.”
