But following in the high-top footsteps of others onto the basketball court is nothing new to Blackshear. Her mother, Lamilia, starred in hoops for Dr. Phillips High School and met her dad, Kerry, when both were playing college basketball for Stetson. Their two older siblings, big brothers to Kayla, are now playing at he next level.
Kerry Blackshear Jr. is a 6-10 senior standout for Florida as a graduate transfer after earning second-team All-ACC honors at Virginia Tech last season. Kenan is a 6-6 freshman guard at Florida Atlantic. . . .
Blackshear, a small forward, said she’s received offers from Georgia Tech, UCF, FAU and Alabama but is in no hurry to decide.
