Pitt transfer Maliyah Johnson (6-0 SO forward, Columbus, OH) has landed at Houston. She averaged 8.5 PPG during the 2022-23 season.
Houston women’s basketball head coach Ronald Hughey announced the signing of transfer Maliyah Johnson from Pittsburgh on Friday after the sophomore averaged 8.5 points per game and 25.4 minutes per game for the Panthers in the ACC.
A 6-0 forward from Columbus, Ohio, Johnson joins the Cougars with two years of eligibility remaining after appearing in 57 total games for Pitt. Johnson started 26 of the 30 games she played in during the 2022-23 season and was one of five players to appear in all 30 games Pitt played while shooting 38.0 percent from the field this past season.
The Columbus, Ohio native scored in double figures 13 times in 2022-23 including a career-high 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting against Bryant. Johnson made 30.8 percent of her three-point attempts during the year for Pitt and made 86.2 percent of her charity stripe attempts.
During conference play in the ACC this year, Johnson was Pitt’s third-highest scorer and made the second-most three-pointers during the 18-game conference slate.

Erynn Barnum (6-2 RS SR forward, Little Rock, AR) announces that she’s entering her name into the portal, out of Arkansas. Just a month ago, head coach Mike Neighbors said that she’d be returning for the 2023-24 season. Barnum was the Razorbacks’ leading scorer in 2022-23 (15.0 PPG) and second in rebounding (6.5/game). She earned second-team All-SEC honors.
