Sports Switchers
List of D-I athletes using the transfer portal to potentially play basketball at a new school after previously playing a different sport at their originating school. Note that those using the portal are allowed to list themselves under more than one sport. So, for example, someone who was on a D-I volleyball team might enter the portal and list both volleyball and basketball, indicating either that they’re open to playing one sport or the other at a new school or that they’re interesting in playing both sports.
Mackenzie Caldwell, 5-10 SR wing, Troy, MO (grad xfer): four-year soccer player at Kansas City; earned three varsity letters in basketball at Troy-Buchanan HS (MO), graduating in 2020
Lauren Grover, 6-1 RS SO forward, Corona, CA (grad xfer): three-year volleyball player at Santa Clara; two-time Big VIII all-league selection in basketball at Santiago HS (Corona, CA), graduating in 2021
Laila Hankerson, 5-5 FR point guard, Charlotte, NC: track and field athlete at Xavier → Colgate WBB
Bria Mitchell, 5-4 guard, Dallas TX: in portal from Texas Southern (but seems to have been on the soccer team at Alabama A&M in 2021)
Anna Morris, 6-3 JR center, Mahwah, NJ: three-year basketball player at Northwestern for before transferring to Ohio State for volleyball; at Northwestern, averaged 1.7 PPG in 49 career games off the bench
