Vanderbilt officially announces the addition of former Missouri player Akira Levy (5-8 FR point guard, Baxter, TN).
Levy, a 5-8 guard, started four games for Missouri last season and averaged 15.8 minutes per game. The Baxter, Tennessee, native shot 48.1% from the field and 70.0% from the stripe. She also collected 58 assists.
“We are excited to welcome Akira home and into the Vanderbilt family,” White said. “She was Tennessee’s Miss Basketball, a state champion and has SEC-level talent. She will make an immediate impact on our team with her energy, toughness, competitiveness and leadership. We will be able to use this season for her to get healthy, as well as adjust to Vanderbilt and our team.”

Former South Florida player Kitija Laksa has signed with a pro club in her native Latvia. She had entered the portal as a possible grad transfer.
“We are very excited about (Laksa’s) choice to start her professional career in the TTT ranks,” longtime TTT Riga coach Martins Zibarts said in a statement.
“She is a great sniper and a very strong player mentally. These capabilities will allow us to become a stronger team.”

Former Chicago State player Destinee Pointer (5-7 RS SO guard, Waxahatchie, TX) has transferred to Rocky Mountain College, an NAIA school in Billings, Montana.
Rocky Mountain College head women’s basketball coach Wes Keller announced Wednesday that Destinee Pointer will join the Battlin’ Bears for the 2018-19 season.
Pointer is a transfer guard from Chicago State University. During her sophomore season, she averaged seven points and three rebounds per game with 20 starts. She ranked second on the team in total steals.

Mya Moye (5-6 FR guard, Washington, DC), Florida A&M‘s leading scorer in 2018-19 at 11.3 PPG, is transferring to CCBC Essex. Community College of Baltimore County Essex is reestablishing its women’s basketball program this fall, after a 15-year absence. Moye is the fifth D-I transfer that the Knights have picked up.

Valparaiso (MVC) announces the addition of Florida Atlantic grad transfer Alexis Cowan (5-7 SR shooting guard, Bolingbrook, IL).
Valparaiso University women’s basketball head coach Mary Evans announced today that guard Alexis Cowan has joined the program as a graduate transfer and will have one season of eligibility remaining. A native of Bolingbrook, Ill., Cowan comes to Valpo after spending the last two years at Florida Atlantic.
“We’re excited to have Alexis joining our program this season,” said Evans. “Alexis is an explosive athlete who can really shoot the basketball at a high percentage from the perimeter. Her collegiate experience will be a valuable addition to our depth in the backcourt. As we went through the recruiting process with Alexis, we felt that she really fits the culture of our program here at Valpo.”
