Before Monday’s announcement, Maxwell had never committed publicly to one sport over another.
“I always say my favorite sport is whatever season it is,” Maxwell said. “But I guess I picked basketball, one because it is indoors and it’s a controlled climate where I can practice anytime and two because I can’t see myself running for four years straight. Dribbling a basketball four years straight seems like a lot more fun, and it is God’s plan for me to play basketball.”
