North Carolina Central announces the addition of Iona transfer Sydney Avoletta (6-4 SO forward, Sterling, VA).

Head coach Trisha Stafford-Odom has announced the addition of transfer Sydney Avoletta to the 2022-23 North Carolina Central University women’s basketball roster to complete her 2022-23 recruiting class.

Avoletta joined the Eagles at the start of the fall semester and will be joining a roster that consists of six letter winners and five other newcomers that were already announced this summer (first recruiting release).

Sydney Avoletta will be a redshirt sophomore at NCCU after transferring in from Iona University. She played in eight games for the Gaels during a shortened freshman campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic and then she sat out las season due to injury.

“Syd’s size and ability to move smoothly is exciting and will be a phenomenal addition to our conference,” said Stafford-Odom. “She has soft hands with great touch and the consistency of her jump shot has been the most pleasant surprise. Plugging Sydney into our transition will be seamless and the presence she gives us in the post instantly makes all of our other players more dangerous.”
