Women’s Basketball Transfer News, May 2022

Seton Hall officially announces the addition of Auburn grad transfer Jala Jordan (6-2 RS JR forward, Philadelphia, PA).

Seton Hall women’s basketball head coach Anthony Bozzella announced today the addition of Auburn transfer Jala Jordan (Philadelphia, Pa.) to the program.

Jordan is a graduate transfer with two years of remaining eligibility and will begin playing for The Hall immediately.

“I think Jala has an opportunity to be a really special player,” Bozzella said.  She has a chance to be a star.  Her father played with former Pirate head coach Kevin Willard at Pittsburgh, and you can tell she comes from a family that knows the game well.  She’s really smart, long, can rebound and score the ball.  We’re counting on her to be an impact player and are really excited for her arrival.”

Jordan comes to South Orange after being a regular contributor for Auburn over the last two years and spending her freshman season at West Virginia University.  The impact forward played in all 28 games for the Tigers last year, making seven starts, and averaged 6.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.  Offensively, she averaged 6.4 points per game last year, fourth-best on the team.  Defensively, she has twice led the Tigers in blocks.

As a freshman at West Virginia, Jordan saw action in 27 games and helped lead the Mountaineers to 22 wins and the third round of the WNIT.

American grad transfer Jade Edwards (5-10 SR guard, Chicago, IL) has landed at DePaul. She earned first-team All–Patriot League honors the last two seasons.

Welcome home, Jade Edwards.

Coach Doug Bruno and his staff have landed the two-time, All-Patriot League First Team guard from American University who led the Eagles to the conference title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.

The 2021 Patriot League All-Defensive Team selection was an All-State performer at the Latin School before signing with American. She was named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team as a freshman, averaged 14.5 points and nearly seven rebounds a game as a sophomore (second team all-conference) and 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds as a junior.

In her senior year, Edwards led American in scoring at 12.6 points a game and rebounding at 6.5. The 5-foot, 10-inch standout was tops in blocked shots and second in assists and steals. The incoming DePaul graduate student has one year of eligibility remaining.

Edwards is the second women’s basketball player to land in Lincoln Park from the NCAA transfer portal. Last month, ex-Notre Dame guard and McDonald’s All-American Anaya Peoples became a Blue Demon.

“When I entered the portal, I heard from a lot of schools,” Edwards said. “The thought of coming home for my last year was always in the back of my mind. My family lives in the Ravenswood community, just 10-15 minutes from DePaul’s campus.”
