Three more Nevada players are in the transfer portal:
- LaPraisjah Johnson, 5-9 JR guard, Killeen, TX
- Miki’ala Maio, 5-9 JR guard, Nanakuli, Hawaii
- Jacqulynn Nakai, 5-7 JR guard, Flagstaff, AZ
Joining Booker in the transfer portal are three junior-college transfers who joined the team last season, including Miki’ala Maio, Jacqulynn Nakai and LaPraisjah Johnson.
Of those three, Maio had the biggest role on last year’s team. She started 12 games and averaged 5.9 points and a team-high 2.4 assists per game. She averaged 19.5 minutes per game and made 43 percent of her shots. Maio transferred to Nevada from Salt Lake (Utah) Community College where she was a NJCAA second-team All-America.
Eve Braslis (6-1 SO forward, Melbourne, Australia) has placed her name into the transfer portal. She was Utah Valley‘s second-leading scorer for 2019-20 at 10.4 PPG.
Jazmine Young (5-8 SO guard, Milwaukee, WI), the leading scorer (12.4 PPG) for Tennessee State during the 2019-20 season, recently entered her name into the transfer portal.
Anna Brecht (6-0 RS SO wing, Sioux Falls, SD) is transferring from Green Bay.
Not seeing the floor much for a player who scored 1,662 points in high school was an adjustment.
“That was the biggest change, working my way even into a minute on the court,” Brecht said. “It was very different, and I’m very thankful I got to experience that change. I’ve learned to get better in many, many ways.
“This is my third year here now, and that is what played a lot into it. I wanted a significant role on the court and just be able to make the same impact on the court that I felt in high school I had. I miss that, but I’ve learned a lot watching mostly from the bench or from teammates.”
Brecht is intrigued about attending a school closer to home and giving family an opportunity to see her play more, but she is leaving all options open. She isn’t ruling out playing DII, although she enjoys the challenge DI provides.
