“Coach Smith is a passionate competitor that I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to learn from,” Krimili said. “She sees me for exactly who I am and her belief in me is unparalleled. I know she will continue to empower me as a Cal Bear to grow as not only a basketball player but as an individual as well. Oakland grad transfer Breanne Beatty (5-8 SR guard, Worthington, OH) has landed at East Tennessee State.

ETSU women’s basketball head coach Brenda Mock Brown announced an addition to next season’s roster on Wednesday in the form of a graduate transfer, officially announcing Breanne Beatty to the team.

Beatty lettered four seasons at Oakland University as a guard, playing in 113 games and starting 111 of those. This past season, she started all 30 games and averaged 35.1 minutes. The Worthington, Ohio native has averaged 7.9 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game over her four-year career, including career highs of 10.7 PPG and 5.1 RPG this past season.

“Breanne Beatty is a natural fit for our program for such a time as this in our building process,” said Coach Mock. “We were looking for a hard-working, high character perimeter player who values being a great teammate on and off the court. In our first conversations with Bre, I had no doubt her energy and presence would immediately elevate our program and contribute positively to what we believe in. As a captain for the Oakland University women’s basketball team, she consistently played with tenacity as an aggressive driver and rebounder with outside shooting ability. She excels as a defender and understands our identity as a program is built on defense and rebounding.

“When she came on her visit and interacted with our current players, it was if she had always been here. We are so excited to coach Bre next season and fully anticipate our fans will enjoy watching her as well.  As a college graduate, Bre will come to Johnson City with an undergraduate degree in education, as well as a teaching license. She anticipates furthering her education with a Master’s degree at ETSU and has a desire to work specifically in the field of special education, which is an aspiration that dates back to her elementary school days.”
