Women’s Basketball Transfer News, April 2022


Oregon State officially announces the addition of Arizona grad transfer Bendu Yeaney (5-10 SR wing, Portland, OR), who returns to her home state. She started her college career at Indiana.

The Oregon State women’s basketball team has added graduate-transfer standout Bendu Yeaney to its roster for the 2022-23 season head coach Scott Rueck announced Thursday.

“I have been watching Bendu play since her high school career began and for her to finish up her collegiate career back home at Oregon State is very special!” Rueck said. “She is an exceptional person and exceptional player. Bendu is a great defender, an attacking offensive player, has great court vision and fits our program extremely well. We are blessed to be able to add such a dynamic person and player with a wealth of experience and leadership ability. She will be a great asset on the floor and also in the development of her younger teammates. Bendu is the perfect person at the perfect time for our program and I know Beaver Nation is going to love her!”

Joining the Beavers will mark a homecoming for Yeaney, who hails from Portland, Ore. The guard spent the last two seasons at Arizona, after beginning her collegiate career at Indiana. Yeaney brings extensive experience at the highest level of college basketball, having made an impressive 122 career starts, including 10 in the NCAA Tournament. Overall, she has 952 career points, averaging 7.1 per contest, and has proven herself as a lock-down defender – often being tasked with guarding one of the opponent’s leading offensive weapons.

Yeaney started all 29 games for Arizona last season, helping the Wildcats earn a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. She scored in double-figures eight times on the year, including a season-high 15-point performance at Gill Coliseum. Yeaney was also a key piece of Arizona’s 2020-21 squad, starting the final 24 games of the season, which ended in the National Championship Game.

LSU officially announces the addition of Missouri grad transfer LaDazhia Williams (6-4 RS SR forward, Bradenton, FL). She started her college career at South Carolina.

Coach Kim Mulkey and the LSU Women’s Basketball team have announced the addition of LaDazhia Willaims, a transfer from Missouri who was a starter in Columbia and is a former five-star recruit out of high school.

“LaDazhia will bring four years of SEC experience to Baton Rouge,’ Coach Mukey said. “She is an efficient scorer who can make an immediate impact in our front court in many facets of the game. Tiger fans will love getting to watch her in the purple and gold next season!”

Wiliiams joins an elite class of that includes nation’s No. 26 player and McDonald’s All-American Flaujae Johnson (Marietta, Ga.), the NJCAA First Team All-American Last-Tear Poa (Melbourne, Australia), the Dallas Morning News Player of the Year Sa’Myah Smith (Desoto, Tx.) and the All-Texas guard/forward combo Alisa Williams (Little Elm, Texas). The Tigers also added Jasmine Carson on Wednesday, a transfer from West Virginia.

LaDhazia Williams started 18 games for Missouri last season and averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. The 6-4 forward produced one of the most efficient shooting seasons in Missouri history as her 58.2 field goal percentage ranked third all-time in program history. She had the No. 2 field-goal percentage in the SEC and ninth nationally while her 1.8 blocks per game ranked No. 8 in the SEC.

Mercer officially announces the addition of Oklahoma State grad transfer Brittany Reeves (6-5 SR forward, Macon, GA).

Mercer Women’s Basketball Head Coach Susie Gardner and staff have announced the signing of transfer student-athlete, Brittany Reeves, to the program ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Reeves joins the Bears from Oklahoma State, where she contributed off the bench for the Cowgirls. The Macon native made 19 appearances with a pair of starts in her last season in Stillwater. She clocked a game-high 20 minutes and attempted a best-10 field goals in a road win over SMU. In a hard-fought contest to Colorado, she corralled a best-seven boards. Against Oral Roberts in November 2020, she registered a double-double (11 points and 14 rebounds) to help the Cowgirls to a 73-54 win. . . .

“We are thrilled to welcome Brittany back to Macon, Georgia, where she grew up and had an outstanding high school career at Howard High School playing for Coach LaTavia Coleman. Brittany brings size and athleticism to our team which is needed as three post players graduated this year.

She has played four years at a very high level and her experience will be beneficial as she played her final season of collegiate basketball. I’m sure our Mercer Women’s Basketball fans will be excited to see her play as we continue our quest to be the leader in the Southern Conference.”

St. John’s transfer Idan Shlush (5-7 FR guard, Gedera, Israel) has landed at Maine.

University of Maine women’s basketball head coach Amy Vachon has announced the addition of transfer Idan Shlush. Shlush, who will join the Black Bears as a sophomore in the fall of 2022, spent the 2021-22 season at St. John’s University.

“We are very excited to welcome Idan to the Black Bear family,” Vachon says. “We recruited Idan hard out of high school and we are ecstatic that she found her way back to us. Idan is a strong, versatile guard who can score at all three levels and who will also help us out defensively. She comes to Maine with a lot of international experience, but most importantly she fits the kind of student-athlete we look for at Maine; a hard working, tough nosed, high standard person. Please welcome Idan to Black Bear Nation!”

Shlush, who appeared in four games in her freshman season at St. John’s, played for one of the top female basketball academies in Israel, the Wingate Basketball Academy, prior to her time with the Red Storm.
