The NCAA has denied transfer waivers for two Georgia players: Mikayla Coombs (formerly at UConn) and Shaniya Jones (formerly at Virginia Tech). The decision on Coombs will be appealed. Jones was a midyear transfer, so she’ll be eligible following the fall semester.

Missouri head coach Robin Pingeton “isn’t counting on” waivers being approved for three transfers: Shug Dickson, Shannon Dufficy, and Ladazhia Williams.

Also notable are Missouri’s three transfers, Shug Dickson (Lutheran North), Ladazhia Williams and Shannon Dufficy. Pingeton isn’t counting on the NCAA to grant their waiver requests for instant eligibility, but that it’s still possible the Tigers could receive an “early Christmas present” and be allowed to play some of their newcomers. Dickson, a former two-time Class 3 all-state selection, is on her third college stop after starting at Tulsa then spending part of last season at Texas Tech.

Criste’On Waters (6-1 forward, Evansville, IL), who had signed with Southern Miss in May 2019 as a juco transfer (from Butler CC following one year at Southern Illinois) but then placed her name in the transfer portal a couple of months later, has landed at Odessa College, a juco in Texas.

St. John’s freshman Leilani Correa (5-10 guard, Manchester, NJ) has been granted a waiver for immediate eligibility in 2019-20, following her transfer from West Virginia in September.

On Friday, the NCAA approved the waiver of St. John’s freshman guard Leilani Correa, granting her eligibility as she will join the Red Storm women’s basketball program for the 2019-20 season.

Correa transferred to St. John’s from West Virginia in September, after committing to the Mountaineers during the November signing period.

Moriyah Hamell (5-6 FR guard, Ecorse, MI) is transferring from Niagara to Johnson County CC (KS juco), scheduled to arrive there midyear.

Three Detroit Mercy players have received transfer waivers for immediate eligibility:

  • Nicole Johanson (6-5 center, Herscher, IL) / Valparaiso
  • Maxine Moore (6-0 forward, Southfield, MI) / Western Michigan
  • Aly Reiff (5-11 guard, South Whitley, IN) / Xavier

University of Detroit Mercy transfers Nicole Johanson, Maxine Moore and Aly Reiff have all received waivers from the NCAA and all three are eligible to play for the Titans in the upcoming 2019-20 women’s basketball season. Detroit Mercy opens the season, its 43rd as a Division I program, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, hosting Loyola (Ill.) at 7 p.m. from Calihan Hall.

“I would like to thank the NCAA and the players’ previous schools for their help with making it possible for these young ladies to be able to play right away,” head coach Bernard Scott said. “This is a big boost for our program! Having their experience makes us better! Each player brings something different to the team and it makes us that much stronger.”
