Unofficial Scholarship Chart, 2020–21 through 2023–24

Note: The NCAA has granted an extra year of eligibility to 2020-21 D-I winter sports athletes (including women’s basketball players). Programs will be allowed to exceed the 15-scholarship limit for the 2021-22 season only (and only for their own returning players). Until there is definitive word that a player will be taking advantage of this extra year, the WBB Blog scholarship charts will not reflect this extra eligibility.

Personnel Notes, 2020-21 Season:

  • October 2020: Kyndall Hunter (2021) commits to Texas
  • November 2020: Shae Routt is no longer listed on the roster and enters the transfer portal (later transferring to Southeastern University [NAIA])
  • November 2020: Elyssa Coleman “will redshirt this season after undergoing ACL surgery” (source)
  • November 2020: Texas announces the signing of their three 2021 commits, followed by the signings of two juco transfers: Kobe King-Hawea and Femme Masudi
  • January 2021: DeYona Gaston is out for the season with a stress fracture in her shin
  • March 2021: Charli Collier announces she will forgo her senior season and declare for the 2021 WNBA Draft (press release)
  • April 2021 portal entrants: Elyssa Coleman (to UTSA), Karisma Ortiz (grad xfer), and Celeste Taylor (to Duke)

  • October 2019: Ashlee Hannan is dropped from the team’s roster; she apparently returned to Australia
  • October 2019: Sophie Taylor joins the team as a grad transfer walk-on; put on scholarship two months later
  • November 2019: Karisma Ortiz has her request for a transfer waiver denied
  • April 2020: Karen Aston is fired; Vic Schaefer, formerly at Mississippi State, is hired as the new head coach
  • April 2020: Katie Benzan, signed as a grad transfer from Harvard for the 2020-21 season, decides instead to transfer to Maryland
  • April 2020: Schaefer brings his entire coaching staff with him from Mississippi State.
  • April 2020: DeYona’ Gaston (2020) signs with Texas (originally signed with Mississippi State)
  • April 2020: Lauren Ebo and Kyra Lambert transfer in from Penn State and Duke, respectively
  • April 2020: Rori Harmon (2021) commits to Texas
  • April 2020: Aaliyah Moore (2021) commits to Texas
