New Western Carolina head coach Heather Kearney adds Darcie Vincent to her staff as associate head coach.
Western Carolina Head Women’s Basketball Coach Heather Kearney today announced the addition of Darcie Vincent as the Associate Head Coach for the Catamount program. Vincent re-enters the ranks of collegiate athletics after spending two seasons at North Myrtle Beach High School first as the junior varsity basketball coach and then becoming the first woman to coach the boy’s varsity basketball team in Horry County.
“First of all, I can’t be more excited for Heather. She is one of the brightest and caring coaches I know. There are amazing things about to happen at Western Carolina University,” Vincent said.
Kearney is no stranger to working with Vincent as she was an Associate Head Coach under Vincent from 2009-14 at Appalachian State.
Jessica Simmonds has been hired as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson. She was on the Siena staff the last three seasons.
Fairleigh Dickinson University and head women’s basketball coach Angelika Szumilo announced the hiring of Jessica Simmonds as assistant coach on Monday.
Simmonds arrives in Hackensack after coaching as an assistant for three seasons at Siena. With Simmonds on the sidelines, the Saints placed among the top four teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in two of her three seasons, including a third-place finish in 2017-18 that ended with a trip to the MAAC Semifinals for the second time in four years.
North Texas will have two new assistant coaches for the 2019-20 season: Christopher Minner and Roman Owen. Minner was most recently head coach at Our Lady of the Lake University, an NAIA school in San Antonio, while Owen served as an assistant coach at Tulsa last season and at Yale before that.
Minner comes to the Mean Green following a decade of success at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Throughout his tenure as the women’s basketball head coach, Minner compiled an overall record of 189-45 and 121-11 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). Last season, the Saints made OLLU history by making it to the semifinals of the NAIA National Championship for the best finish ever by an athletic team at OLLU. They captured the regular season and tournament titles and concluded the season ranked 12thin the nation. . . .
Owen moves to Denton after spending the 2018-19 season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Tulsa where the Golden Hurricane advanced to the quarterfinals in the American Athletic Conference tournament. . .
Owen served as an assistant coach for three seasons at Yale University from 2015-18. At Yale, Owen’s responsibilities included recruiting, coaching the point guards and wings, scouting reports, film breakdown, scheduling and overseeing team travel.
Jessica Barber has been named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at UL Monroe.
Jessica Barber, who has 13 combined years of experience at the high school and collegiate levels, has been named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at ULM, according to an announcement by women’s head basketball coach Brooks Donald Williams. Barber, who also spent eight years coaching the New Orleans Dominos AAU team, officially assumed her responsibilities at ULM in mid-May.
Ashley Houts, former Missouri State DOBO, has joined the East Tennessee State staff as an assistant coach.
East Tennessee State University women’s basketball head coach Brittney Ezell announced on Saturday that Ashley Houts has joined the Buccaneers’ staff as an assistant coach.
Houts, who played collegiately at the University of Georgia and was selected by the New York Liberty in the 2010 WNBA Draft, spent the past two seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations at Missouri State.
