New Western Carolina head coach Heather Kearney announces another assistant coach on her staff: Tyler Smith, who was previously on the Queens University staff.

Western Carolina Head Coach Heather Kearney today announced the addition of Tyler Smith as an assistant coach for Catamount women’s basketball.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work under Coach Heather Kearney, her legacy of creating championship cultures is special,” Smith said. “Her vision for WCU athletics will be a driving factor for the success that is to come. I am so excited and blessed to be back in the mountains of North Carolina. Go Catamounts!”

Prior to coming to Western Carolina Smith spent one season with Queens University as an assistant coach. She joined the Royals after spending two seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University. While there, she helped lead the Coyotes to 35 total wins and back-to-back appearances in the KCAC Tournament. Smith was responsible for the development of post players, overseeing team academic success, scouting opponents and recruiting.

New St. Francis (Pa.) head coach Keila Whittington names her three assistant coaches: Jacinda Dunbar, Jeanine Wasielewski, and Alli Williams.

Saint Francis women’s basketball head coach Keila Whittington announced the hiring of three assistant coaches on Tuesday.

Whittington completed her staff with the addition of Jacinda Dunbar, Jeanine Wasielewski and the promotion of graduate manager Alli Williams. Abby Davidson will remain on staff as Director of Basketball Operations.

“I am pleased to announce the talented staff I have put together to continue the winning tradition at Saint Francis and assist in taking the program to the next level,” Whittington said. “It was important to me to choose people who were servant leaders, who understood the history and success of the program, and who truly wanted to be a part of Saint Francis University.”

Sta’Nisha Hersey, previously a junior college coach, has been named an assistant coach at Presbyterian.

Presbyterian College women’s basketball coach Alaura Sharp announced the hiring of Sta’Nisha Hersey as assistant coach on Wednesday.

Hersey comes to PC after one season as head coach at Otero Junior College where she improved the team’s record by six wins, finishing at 16-13, and led the Rattlers to a spot in the Region IX Tournament. Otero garnered two All-Region players in Alessia Capley (All-Tournament) and Grace O’Neill (All Region and All Region Defensive Teams) as well as a pair of NJCAA Academic All-Americans with McClain Walker and Laura Prado-Morales. Under her guidance, all five sophomores graduated in May with academic honors.

New Fairleigh Dickinson head coach Angelika Szumilo names her second assistant coach: Megan Cunningham, who was an assistant at St. Francis (Pa.) last season.

Fairleigh Dickinson University and head women’s basketball coach Angelika Szumilo announced the hiring of Megan Cunningham as an assistant coach on Tuesday.

Cunningham comes over to FDU after coaching at Northeast Conference rival Saint Francis (Pa.) as an assistant last season. She also previously worked for The Hoop Group as Director of Girls Events and was a student assistant coach at West Chester University.

Kendra “Kitty” Wells has been named an assistant coach at UL Monroe.

Kendra “Kitty” Wells, who helped lead McNeese State to consecutive Southland Conference Tournament Championships and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011 and 2012, has been named assistant coach at ULM, according to an announcement by women’s head basketball coach Brooks Donald Williams. Wells, who became just the second player in McNeese women’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points and collect 1,000 career rebounds, officially joined the ULM coaching staff in early May.

Hofstra announces three new staff members: Cathy Inglese, assistant coach; Camille Collier, assistant coach/recruiting coordinator; and Keenah Lambert, director of women’s basketball operations.

Hofstra Head Women’s Basketball Coach Danielle Santos Atkinson announced a trio of new staff members to the women’s basketball program on Monday, June 3. Cathy Inglese, Camille Collier and Keenah Lambert will all join Santos Atkinson and the Pride on the bench this season.

Bojan Jankovic has joined the Louisiana Tech coaching staff as an assistant coach after four years at Wyoming.

Louisiana Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr announced Monday that Bojan Jankovic has joined the Lady Techster basketball program as an assistant coach.

Jankovic spent the past four years as an assistant coach at Wyoming and has 15 years of collegiate coaching experience and boasts extensive international coaching experience on his resume.

Cait Wetmore has been promoted to associate head coach at UNCG.

UNC Greensboro head coach of women’s basketball, Trina Patterson, has announced on Monday the promotion of Cait Wetmore to associate head coach. Wetmore has been a part of Patterson’s staff for the last three years as an assistant coach and served as UNCG’s recruiting coordinator prior to that.

“Cait has been a valuable part of our UNCG basketball program’s growth,” said Patterson. “She demonstrates excellence daily, has an outstanding work ethic and does a super job with player development. I am excited to work with Cait as she embarks on this next professional journey.”

Wetmore’s current roles with the program are overseeing the defense, designing and executing all out of bounds plays and the development of the perimeter players. She has helped three guards earn multiple All-Southern Conference Honors in her time in Greensboro: Lucy Mason, Nadine Soliman and Bailey Williams.

VCU head coach Beth O’Boyle has agreed to a five-year contract extension, through the 2023-24 season.

O’Boyle, who was named the 2019 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, just completed her fifth season at the helm.

“Beth has done an excellent job in putting our women’s basketball program on a path for success. She has recruited elite-level student-athletes and developed them into a team that plays an exciting brand of basketball. I look forward to our program’s future under her leadership during the next few years,” McLaughlin said.
