2021 Class: Recruiting News/Updates, March 2019

Coverage of the women’s basketball 2021 recruiting class: offers, commitments, decommitments, unofficial visits, recruiting updates from news sites and other sources, etc. Items listed in reverse chronological order.

Samantha Johnston, 6-0 G, Cedar HS (Cedar City, UT): landed an offer from Saint Mary’s.

Makayla Elmore, 6-3 C, Hopewell-Loudon HS (Bascom, OH): “attracting attention from Tennessee, Ohio State and others,” according to this item. Offers from Cincinnati and Clemson were reported during 2018.

Jada Malone, 6-3 F, Village School (Houston, TX): picked up an offer from Arizona State. She’s ranked in the top 25 in the 2021 class.

O’Mariah Gordon, 5-4 PG, Braden River HS (Bradenton, FL): espnW feature touches on recruiting. She’s among the top 12 prospects in the 2021 class.

Gordon, who is interested in studying physical therapy in college, realizes that focusing on basketball as her sport is best for her future though.

She said she’s being recruited by Florida State, Miami, South Carolina and LSU, among others.

“I don’t want to go somewhere it’s too cold,” she said. “Even when it’s 40 degrees, I’m not too happy. But I will go where it fits me and my style of play.”

Harley Paynter, 5-7 PG, Boyd County HS (Ashland, KY): has offers from Murray State and Western Kentucky, as noted in this article.

Kaitlyn Orihel, 5-9 SG, Archbishop Wood HS (Warminster, PA): has “offers from Villanova, Drexel, and others,” according to this article.

Jersey Wolfenbarger, 6-1 G, Northside HS (Fort Smith, AR): Arkansas appears to be the front-runner for this 2021 in-state prospect.

I did an interview with her. The only school she brought up is Arkansas. She’s got an Arkansas offer. She talked about coach Neighbors. We see what a job he has done getting that team to the SEC Tournament finals. But she is a Razorback fan. She is close with Isaiah Joe. They work out together in Fort Smith.

Greta Kampschroeder, 6-0 SG/W, Naperville North HS (IL): A Chicago Tribune feature on Kampschroeder, who’s ranked in the top 20 in her class, mentions that she intends to commit as a junior.

She has offers from multiple Big Ten schools and interest from the Ivy League. She intends to verbally commit as a junior.

“Without a doubt, she’s the best player (I’ve played with),” Drummond said. “And she has so much more room to grow, too. She’s only going to get better, and that’s even more exciting.”

Victoria “Vicky” Morales, 5-5 PG, Proctor Academy (Andover, NH): took an unofficial visit to Kent State, a school that has offered her, as has Rhode Island. Morales’s hometown is Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Maggie Phipps, 5-10 SG, North Polk HS (Alleman, IA): This item from WKKL mentions that Phipps had made a commitment to Drake (MVC). She committed in August 2018.

Olivia Olsen, 6-2 F, Niskayuna HS (NY): Local news feature mentions that Olsen has interest from Providence, Manhattan, Marist, Iona, and Boston College.
