Zoe MacKay Zacker, 5-10 G, Montini Catholic HS (Lombard, IL): announced her commitment to Valparaiso (MVC).

(3/9/2019)

UDPATE (3/12): An article on MacKay Zacker’s commitment to Valpo notes how she persevered through three torn ACLs and losing Power 5 offers and still landed a scholarship at a D-I program.

MacKay Zacker hardly plays like a kid who’s been through ACL tears. Fearless, she looks forward to a future unafraid and thankful.

“People always ask me ‘Are you hesitant when you play?'” MacKay Zacker said. “If I played scared the rest of my life I wouldn’t enjoy it. It’s a mental game as well as physical. My teammates at Montini game me so much support. Just knowing how much it meant to be on the court and be a presence, it’s irreplaceable.”

Makenna Marisa, 5-11 SG, Peters Township HS (PA): The Penn State signee says she is upset about Coquese Washington being out as PSU head coach, but she intends to stick with her commitment.

It was a bittersweet day for Marisa, a Penn State signee who found out a few hours earlier that the school was parting ways with head coach Coquese Washington after 12 seasons. Marisa, who had offers from schools around the country, said she has no intentions on looking elsewhere.

“I was really, really upset about it. I still am. But I love Penn State. I definitely don’t plan on leaving,” Marisa said.
