Transfer News, March 2019

Lydia Rivers (6-2 RS JR forward, Kinston, NC) has put her name into the portal as a possible grad transfer. She averaged a double-double in 2018-19 (12.2 points, 10.3 boards).

McGuire will have to replace All-Big South first-team pick Destinee Walker, who was a senior this year, and possibly Lydia Rivers, who made the All-Big South first team as a fourth-year junior this year.

McGuire said Rivers, who is planning to graduate in May with a degree in exercise science, entered the transfer portal Tuesday to explore her options as a graduate transfer. Rivers is interested in a master’s degree in exercise science, but Radford does not offer that.

There is a chance Rivers could stay at Radford.

“We’re still working on a few things,” McGuire said. “We want her to stay. … But I think she owed it to herself to get out there and explore as best she could to see if anybody has a master’s in exercise science that needs a player like her.”
