Transfer News, February 2019

News on women’s basketball transfers from NCAA D-I schools. Last update: February 16, 2019.

Taylor Barnes (5-8 JR point guard, Memphis, TN) is now listed in the NCAA transfer portal, per a source. She played in 24 games this season, starting 22 and averaging 9.3 PPG and 3.1 APG in 31.9 MPG. Although she is still included on the team’s roster (as of this day), she did not play in Memphis’s latest game (box score). And in the previous game, she did not start and played just 1 minute off the bench, as was noted in this article.

There has always been one constant in the starting lineup, and that has been junior guard Taylor Barnes. She has been the undisputed leader of the team this season and has started 76 of her 83 career games. She didn’t start in Wednesday’s game and actually only played a minute. . . .

McFerrin partially talked about it with the media, but she didn’t go into much detail.

“It’s team-related,” Mcferrin said. “She’s not hurt.”

In addition, Kiana Coomber (5-11 JR forward, Fairbury, IL) is no longer listed on the Memphis roster and may be transferring. She played in 20 games this season, starting 9 and averaging 4.5 PPG and 4 RPG in 21.2 MPG. She’s a juco transfer from Chipola College who started her collegiate career at Loyola Chicago.

Redshirt sophomore forward Manaya Jones left the Memphis program earlier this season, seeking to transfer.
