Kaylen Evans, 5-7 G, Nazareth Academy (La Grange, IL): picked up an offer from Milwaukee; previously reported offers: Akron and Northern Illinois.
McKenna Minter, 5-8 G, Lincoln Northeast HS (NE): has offers from Nebraska and Creighton (mentioned in this article).
Weronika Hipp, 5-9 G, Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, GA): announced her commitment to Clemson, their first 2020 commit. Hipp hails from Poland, and her move to the United States was noted in this article from December 2017.
D’Mya Tucker, 6-0 W, Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS (SC): picked up an offer from Florida A&M. Among the schools previously reported as having offered her are North Carolina A&T, East Carolina, Jacksonville, Old Dominion, Charleston Southern, Tennessee State, Appalachian State, Radford, Charleston, UNC Asheville, and Coastal Carolina.
Wyvette Mayberry, 5-7 PG, Booker T. Washington HS (Tulsa, OK): A feature in Tulsa World notes that she has offers from Tulsa, Oral Roberts, and Southern Miss.
Her father is former NBAer Lee Mayberry, who attended Arkansas and is currently an assistant WBB coach at Oral Roberts. Three older sisters have played D-I basketball, one at Tulsa and two at Oral Roberts (one is currently at ORU). Taleya Mayberry, the sister who played at Tulsa, is now an assistant coach at that same school.
Wyvette might get her chance. She holds scholarship offers from TU, ORU and Southern Miss. More offers likely would have come her way, but recruiters are leery about her ties with the Hurricane and Golden Eagles.
“It is what it is, but I still have another year,” she said.
Is she the best yet from the Mayberry clan?
“It’s a question she and all the others have had to hear,” Lee Mayberry said. “I’ve told her that if she continues to work and play as hard as she can, everything else will take care of itself.”
Katelyn Young, 6-1 F, Oakwood HS (Fithian, IL): landed an offer from SIUE. Offers reported for her previously (listed in chronological order) include Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Bradley, Kent State, Xavier, St. Bonaventure, Old Dominion, and Denver.
Deja Kelly, 5-8 PG, Duncanville HS (TX): recently took an unofficial visit to Oregon (per this paywalled article). Kelly is a former Texas commit ranked in the top 25 in the 2020 recruiting class.
Destiny Leo, 5-10 W, Eastlake North HS (OH): was offered by Cleveland State.
Caitlin Clark, 5-11 PG, Dowling Catholic HS (IA): from a Des Moines Register video interview with Clark, ranked in the top five in the 2020 recruiting class:
Q: Which schools are most on you in the picture right now?
A: Oregon, Oregon State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Iowa State, Texas, Florida: [those are] probably the main schools.
As she has indicated before, Clark says that she is likely to make her decision after the summer AAU season but before her senior HS season. Asked about the factors that will go into her decision, the first thing she mentions is the ability to play right away.
UPDATE (Feb. 21): The Des Moines Register followed up that video with an article that includes a slightly longer “main group of schools on her radar”:
“I’m not really close to any decision,” she said with a laugh. “I wish I was, but I’m not.”
Clark does have a main group of schools on her radar: There’s the in-state trio of Iowa, Iowa State and Drake, plus Texas, Oregon, Oregon State, Notre Dame, Duke, Florida and Creighton. Missouri has also been in to see her this year.
In addition to many visits to the in-state schools, Clark and her father, Brent, took unofficial visits to Oregon, Oregon State and Texas in the fall, and she has taken unofficials to Notre Dame the past two summers.
“I just don’t think she honestly knows where she wants to go,” Brent said. “There’s so many positive reasons to (stay) local. And there’s positive reasons maybe to going more that national-brand route, if you want to say that.”
Leilani Kapinus, 5-10 G, Madison Memorial HS (WI): received an offer from Louisville. Ohio State offered her earlier this month (as noted below).
