Jala Johnson, 5-7 G, Toledo Notre Dame Academy (OH): A Toledo Blade article indicates that Loyola Chicago and Wayne State (D-II) are among the schools interested in Johnson. Her older sister, Akienreh Johnson, is a junior on the Michigan women’s basketball team.

The 5-7 Johnson is weighing her college prospects, which include interest from Loyola (Chicago) University — coached by former Clay and Bowling Green State University standout player Kate Achter — and Wayne State University in Detroit.

“Jala has really elevated her game at the offensive end,” Galloway said. “She shoots the ball better than she did last year, and she makes better decisions with the ball.

“She knows when to pick her spots, and she doesn’t force the issue so much. She’s kind of let the game come to her, and her development has been huge for us. She has settled down, and she makes the players around her better.”

UPDATE: Per a source, Jala Johnson also has offers from Coppin State and Grambling State, as well as interest from Cleveland State, Rutgers, and Alabama State.

Jazlen Green, 5-10 SG, Lakeside HS (Lake Elsinore, CA): committed to Cal earlier in the month, and she tells the Golden Bear Report that she chose the Golden Bears over Washington, Oklahoma State, and Colorado.

“I was considering Washington University, Oklahoma State, Colorado University, those were the last three out of many,” Green said. “I chose Cal because of the people. I’m a family person and when I got to Cal that’s what I felt immediately from the coaches to the players to the admin. I felt that. But not only that, the degree that I would receive from Cal holds a lot of power.

“The campus is beautiful and so is the community. You can tell how involved the city of Berkeley is with the university. They have a lot of pride in the school. What I like most about it is that town feeling, and that closeness makes me think of home…I’m actually undecided as of right now. But there’s so many things out there that I can choose from which I can’t wait to explore up there.”
