2019 Class: Recruiting News/Updates, June 2019

UL Monroe (Sun Belt) announces the signing of juco transfer Kierra Crockett, a 6-0 forward from Independence (KS) Community College who spent her freshman season at Saginaw Valley State University and attended North Farmington HS (MI).

Crockett comes from an athletic family. Her father Kenzo played defensive end at N.C. State while her mother Dee Dee played basketball and ran track at Independence Community College and Missouri Southern State College, and played volleyball and ran track at Fayetteville (N.C.) State University. Her sister Kasey (Dartmouth, 2012-14) and stepsister Ashley Jones (Michigan, 2005-10) played college basketball while her stepbrother Tonjua (T.J.) Jones was a four-year letterman as a wide receiver at Northwestern (2004-07).

Crockett becomes the third signee of Coach Williams’ first recruiting class at ULM, joining 5-8 guard Gara Beth Self, from Ingomar High School in New Albany, Mississippi, and 5-10 guard Linda van Schaik, from Orange Angels Academy in Amsterdam, Netherlands.


Charleston (CAA) announces the signing of three incoming freshmen:

  • Nia Covington, 5-9 G/F, Cosby HS (Midlothiah, VA)
  • Ciara “CiCi” Moore, 5-8 G, Pine Forest HS (Fayetteville, NC)
  • Taylor Williams, 5-9 G/F, Father Lopez Catholic HS (Daytona Beach, FL)


Yet another signee for South Florida (AAC): Cristina Bermejo, a 6-1 wing hailing from Sant Jus Deservn, Spain.

“Cristina’s versatility at her size is going to make her a match up problem for teams,”Fernandez said. “We have had great success with guards of her stature and their ability to score in a variety of ways and this will allow her to adapt to our system to become an impact player.”


Elena Tsineke, a 5-7 guard out of Thessaloniki, Greece, has signed with South Florida (AAC).

“Elena’s ability to get to the basket and put pressure on the defense will complement our outside game,” Fernandez said. “Add in her ability to play off of the ball, Elena is going to give us depth across a lot of positions.”


Cal State Fullerton (Big West) adds two more players to its 2019 recruiting class:

  • Anniken Frey, a 5-7 PG out of Oslo, Norway
  • Malia Goldsmith, 5-6 PG, University HS (Irvine, CA)

“Really excited to add two quality players at this time of the year,” said Harada. “Anniken and Malia bring solid skill sets and a competitive swagger to our team, but more importantly their high character and strong academic backgrounds further enhance the type of players we want as we continue to add to the culture we’ve established with our program.”


Esmery Martinez, 6-0 W, Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, TN): Mississippi State signee announced that she has asked for her release and is reopening her recruitment. She is originally from the Dominican Republic.
