2019 Class: Recruiting News/Updates, February 2019

Ahsha Spencer, 5-8 G, Oak Park and River Forest HS (IL): picked up an offer from UIC. She received her first offer last month, from North Dakota State.

Tanayja London, 5-11 W, Hillhouse HS (New Haven, CT): committed to Iona (MAAC) yesterday during an unofficial visit.

On Thursday, London made an unofficial visit to the Division I school in New Rochelle, New York, and gave her verbal commitment before leaving the campus.

“I was able to see the campus, see the team and see a ton of the area,” London said. “They have a very young team, hardly any juniors, so I feel I can fit right in. It was a collective decision between me, my parents and the (Hillhouse) coaching staff.”

Lexi Eberhardt, 5-6 G, Loveland HS (CO): announced her commitment to Colorado State (Mountain West) as a preferred walk-on.

Emily Behnke, 6-2 F/C, Manitowoc Lutheran HS (WI): The Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter reports on Behnke’s commitment to North Dakota State (Summit) in mid-January.

Behnke needed to find a school which offered her major, sonography or ultrasound technician, and preferably close to where she’s spent her entire life up to this point.

During her recruitment, if a program didn’t offer the major they were immediately off the list, and she was upfront about it.

She’d spoken with nearby Division III schools Concordia and Carroll University, but a school well outside of her preferred area was calling — Division I North Dakota State.

NDSU checked off the biggest box, having a sonography program.

“Right off the bat I’m looking if they have the thing I want to do with the rest of my life. Education comes first,” Behnke said.

Jelena Mitrovic, 6-9 center out of Novi Sad, Serbia: committed to Oregon State, over Arizona State, Iowa, and Rutgers.

Madelene “Maddie” Ennis, 5-11 F, St. Ignatius HS (San Francisco, CA): In a preps roundup from the San Francisco Examiner, Ennis is mentioned as having drawn interest from Pacific, San José State, and UC Davis.

St. Ignatius senior forward Maddie Ennis continues to draw interest from local women’s basketball programs, with San Jose State and UC Davis joining Pacific in courting the prolific rebounder.

Jala Johnson, 5-7 G, Toledo Notre Dame Academy (OH): announced her commitment to Loyola Chicago (Missouri Valley). She also had offers from Coppin State and Grambling State. Her older sister, Akienreh Johnson, is a junior on the Michigan women’s basketball team.

Laura Mendez, 5-9 PG out of Spain: committed to San Francisco (West Coast Conference).

Excellanxt Greer, 5-6 PG, Zebulon B. Vance HS (Charlotte, NC): announced her commitment to Charleston (CAA). Prior to her senior year, Greer transferred to Vance HS from Meade HS in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Alayna Townsell, 6-0 W, St. Thomas Aquinas HS (Overland Park, KS): announced her commitment to Hampton (Big South).

Estel Puiggros, 5-9 PG out of Spain: committed to Ball State (MAC).
